ABOUT US
Cheryl Robilliard

MLA, BLA (Hons), BA, Dip Tchng, Registered NZILA Landscape Architect

My interest in the landscape has its roots in formative experiences on many camping trips around New Zealand.  Before I became a landscape architect, I  trained as a teacher, leaving New Zealand for my OE which lasted for nine years principally in Spain and Germany.  n returning home I changed careers and graduated with a Masters in Landscape Architecture.

Work at PAOS
I have worked on a comprehensive range of projects as director and senior landscape architect.  Much of my work is in the public realm.  I have wide ranging interests, but some particular interests are planning and design through public participatory processes, coastal development, recreation, design for multicultural communities and adventure or natural play based on the landscape and natural features.

Teaching landscape architecture
I was approached in 2004 to develop a course on urban ecology for the landscape architecture programme at the School of Architecture, Victoria University.  Until 2009 I complemented practice work with teaching design studio. Topics ranged from urban ecology to Wellington’s parliamentary precinct and rural communities.

Professional Involvement
I am a panelist for NZILA registration examination, have been a member of the Wellington NZILA committee and was chair for two years, and was on two NZILA conference organising committees, one as convenor.  I am a member of the NZ Recreation Association and Urban Design Forum, and on the NZ committee of IUCN,
